President Shawn’s Year
President Shawn has no major building projects for this Rotary year but he has some wonderful ideas for his year. Following with the Districts and RI goals he will concentrate the efforts of the club on new members, a greater emphasis on public relations and awareness in the community of our efforts and finally to increase Paul Harris sustaining fellows for the club. These are all wonderful goals for our club. Let’s all get behind Shawn in his efforts this year.

The club has received $5,000 from the Robert Schaefer Foundation to be used on this year’s project of President Karen. We are building a shelter at the library annex to be used for outdoor projects and events.
Ginny Schaefer, wife of past Rotarian Robert Schaefer, passed away February 24th. Ginny and Bob were very generous with their time and finances in the promotion of Chillicothe. Our Rotary Club can thank the Schaefer’s for their assistance in building many of our projects in the community we undertook. We will miss their presence but their legacy will live on in the many campaigns, programs and structures in Chillicothe. Memorial contributions can be made to the Columbus Foundation in their honor.
As a side note, Bob was instrumental in establishing and funding our local Chillicothe Rotary Foundation. So, many of the efforts we have completed are a result of his forethought and concern. It’s amazing how far we have taken that seed.
To complete the funding for the project, the PACCAR Foundation donated $6,000 to the library to go with the money from the Chillicothe Rotary Foundation and the library funds. It was a wonderful gesture on their part to help such a great project in our community. A special thank you to our own Doug Littick for his help in acquiring the funds.
The annual Rotary Golf Outing will be held on September 12th at the Chillicothe Country Club. Contact Chuck Freeman for details on hole sponsorship, prizes to give away or for team sign up.

Thought of the Week: “If a man does his best, what else is there?” General George S Patton
Closing thought: Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are. Their whims, fancies and ambitions are thwarted at every step, but their inmost thoughts and desires are fed with their own food, be it foul or clean. The “divinity that shapes our ends” is in ourselves; it is our very self.
